President's Letter

2010-2011 President Emily McGee

The Junior League of Topeka (JLT) is an organization of more than 400 women who care deeply about our community. With a mission to promote voluntarism, develop the potential of women, and improve the community through the effective action and leadership, our projects focus on improving the quality of every child’s self-esteem in the Topeka area. We believe that if we can help the self-esteem of children, they will have a greater chance to grow up to be successful and happy.

Community Programming

The JLT has been instrumental in the creation of many community programs including ERC Resource & Referral, Meals on Wheels, the Ronald McDonald House, the Race Against Breast Cancer, CASA , and Everybody Wins! When Adults Read With Children. Our new initiative is Happy, Healthy Me!, which addresses the issue of childhood obesity.  In addition, the JLT continually explores assesses the needs in our community, as well as the needs of our members, in order to implement new projects with strong community impacts.

Training

The training our members receive enables them to become catalysts, communicators and coalition builders. Our volunteers use this training in their place of business and other non-profit work making lasting impressions that continue to ripple throughout the community and beyond.

Please join us…

The Junior League of Topeka is actively seeking women who possess an interest in voluntarism and commitment to the community. Our membership is open to all women over 21 years of age living in Topeka and surrounding communities. If you are interested in receiving training, contributing your skills, developing new friendships and making a difference in your community, please join us.
