JLT Member Impact
The Junior League of Topeka's highest honor given to a sustaining member is the Gold Rose Award. In 2006, Marcia Cassidy was honored with that award for her on going leadership and volunteerism in the community.
Marcia joined League in 1974 and has been a sustaining member since 1981. While in League she held such positions as Recording Secretary, President’s Secretary, Mobile Meals Board President and was always head of Housewares for the Next-to-New Sale. After going sustaining she served as a sustaining advisor for Next-to-New, the Executive Secretary, Board Member at Large, and also Fall Fundraiser. Marcia has used her League training in several other organizations in the community, such as Meals on Wheels, where she served as Board President and still delivers meals. She is currently the Secretary for the Gamma Phi Beta Corporation Board, a member of the Topeka Jayhawk Club and a member of the Knollwood Garden Club, just to name a few.
She is a shining example of what a member can give to League and what they can get in return!
