JLT Community Projects
Happy, Healthy Me! is the Signature Project for the Junior League of Topeka. The focus of this program is a multi-year, multi-faceted initiative to improve children’s self-esteem through working to promote wellness.
The three components of this program are Education, Volunteering and Funding. JLT has partnered with Family Service and Guidance Center and The Capper Foundation Easter Seals and their respective helath programs.
In the future, JLT may try to create or bring new childhood obesity programs to fill gaps in our community resources and meet this growing need.
Community Action Team (CAT) is a committee of JLT members that coordinates the hands on volunteer opportunities of the entire JLT membership. Each year CAT sends out applications to a wide variety of non-profit groups asking them to fill out to request our help. The Committee meets monthly to determine which projects the league will support. Each CAT member is in charge of several projects and is required to do at least 15 hours of volunteering.
We are currently involved in a variety of projects from assisting with CAPPER’s evening as a child to helping the children of the Villages and Florence Crittenton have the birthday party of their dreams.
